Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation

The Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation (CODA) is a partnership project led by NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS). Other partners in the project include NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation (AbSec) and Local Community Services Association (LCSA) as state peak agencies and local organisations in the Northern Rivers, Hawkesbury and South East NSW.

The CODA Project received funding from the Australian Government and the NSW Government.

The project aims to builds disaster preparedness and resilience among non-government organisation (NGOs) and people most vulnerable to disaster impacts and strengthens connections and cooperation between the community, local NGOs, and Emergency Management to take action to reduce local disaster risks.

Part of the project is a training needs analysis (TNA) survey that LCSA is undertaking.

 

Training Needs Analysis Survey

LCSA has developed this TNA survey to provide the CODA project and LCSA with insights into the knowledge and preparedness of the broader community services sector—including neighbourhood and community centres (NCC)—regarding disaster management.

The TNA survey is organised into four sections:

Section 1            Organisational overview

Section 2            Level of disaster management preparedness

Section 3            Training & Knowledge

Section 4             Barriers & Priorities

LCSA acknowledges that disaster management experience differs across organisations. We welcome input from individuals and groups with all levels of experience, ranging from minimal to extensive.

The organisation’s manager or a nominee should complete the survey.

Based on the pilot the training needs analysis survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

 

Training Program

Following the analysis of the TNA survey results, LCSA will develop a disaster management training program for organisations within the four local areas.
